Acupressure is an ancient Chinese healing art used to stimulate the human body’s natural self-healing abilities. It is effective in releasing tension, increasing circulation, reducing pain, and boosting the body's immune system.
Acupressure works by using the fingers to gradually apply pressure to trigger healing points. When a point is stimulated in the same area where you feel pain or tension, it's referred to as "local point manipulation." When a point is stimulated to relieve pain or tension in an area outside of the area of discomfort, it's referred to as "trigger point manipulation." Both local point manipulation and trigger point manipulation serve to stimulate blood flow and nerve response, to return the body's muscles to a state of normal well being.
Pressure Points
Pressure Points for Neck Tension
Highest point of the shoulder muscle, one to two inches from the side of the lower neck.
Half inch below the base of the skull, on the muscles one half inch outward from the spine.
The indentation at the base of the skull, one to two inches behind the back of the earlobe.
Underneath the base of the skull, in the indentations about two to three inches apart.
Pressure Points for Shoulder Tension
Ball of tension just above the shoulder blade midway between the base of the neck and the outside of the shoulders.
Highest point of the shoulder muscle one to two inches from the side of the lower neck.
Underneath the base of the skull, in the indentations about two to three inches apart.
Pressure Points for Back Tension
Lower back (between the second and third lumbar vertebrae). Two and four finger widths away from the spine.
Midway between the top of the hip bone and the base of the buttock.
Center of the back of each knee crease.

The Science of Acupressure
Acupressure stimulates muscle tissue to release endorphins and promote circulation to achieve optimal pain, tension relief, and relaxation. When we feel pain in our muscles, it is normally caused by the lack of blood circulation to that area. When the blood circulation is reduced or limited to a certain area, oxygen flow is reduced, which results in tissues or cells not receiving enough energy or nutrients. When this happens, our nerve endings in that area will let us know by triggering a pain response. Muscles need oxygen or energy to function normally. The pain response is triggering the need for oxygen or energy delivery to the muscle.
We also feel pain when a muscle tenses or spasms due to muscle fibers contracting from trauma, stress, or fatigue. By applying pressure and a deep tissue massage, muscle fibers elongate and relax. Blood supply and flow increases as more oxygen and nutrients are carried to tissues and cells in that area. The results are reduced or
fully relieved muscle pain.
Massage and acupressure stimulate our body to generate and release endorphins which further alleviate pain and discomfort. When you press on your muscle, your brain tells the muscles to respond to the pressure sensation. Don't think of it as a way to increase your tolerance of pain, but rather as a way of relieving pain and releasing tension from your muscles.
The Q-Flex is a self acupressure device designed and engineered to relieve stress and tension by applying pressure to specific pressure points on the body. The perfect solution to help soothe sore, tired, and tight muscles, while releasing endorphins to help relieve pain and increase circulation to promote healing.
